About
Photography allows me to represent the intricate detail of our world: every new leaf on a spring oak tree, or an old farmhouse’s every weathered brick. I see beauty in these small things and the patterns they create. Black and white photography is about composition, and composition is about perceiving some pattern in a subject and enhancing that pattern—with the camera, lighting, weather, and the darkroom.
I shoot most of my images with a view camera because of the large negative and resulting amazing detail this camera captures. I print my photos in a traditional darkroom, tone them in archival toners, and dry mount the photos on museum board.
